PFSOs complete Certification Course at REDTRAC

Held over the period 19th February – 2nd March, 2018, the Port Facility Security Officer Course is designed to provide the specialized knowledge required by port facility security personnel to perform their duties in accordance with the requirements of the ISPS Code and a Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP). REDTRAC offers a PFSO Certification Course (3.21+) which is built on the IMO Model Course 3.21 as designed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for use by its Member States.

The REDTRAC Course carries the ‘+ designation because it includes deliberate subject matter extensions which allow for specific practical exercises to be done; the inclusion of a broader spectrum of course material which includes port safety, regional Contracting Governments and local port security infrastructures, the roles of related State agencies and a raft of other matters touching on the wider duties of the PFSO.

Comprised of participants from Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica, the cohort graduated as Certified PFSOs who are ready to ‘hit the ground running’ immediately on their deployment to PFSO duties.
